On the way back I enjoyed the colors of the mountains and sky,

and a quiet sunrise.

Watching Birds

Early one morning in the desert

a hawk perched on top of a saguaro

and a smaller bird, possibly a purple martin,
repeatedly circled and swooped down at the hawk.

The hawk just watched

as I watched.
