Northern Cardinal
Green-tailed Towhee
Gila Woodpecker & Neighbor's Cat
This was the first cardinal to visit our new platform feeder. Green-tailed Towhees are busy scratching around the backyard like little chickens. Gila woodpecker announces his presence with a call that sounds like a loud squeak toy. The Gambel's quail family drops by occasionally. The youngsters are almost fully grown now. I think this butterfly is a Sleepy Orange even though it wasn't sleepy or very orange. If you didn't see the backyard critters I posted on my other blog in July, and you want to take a peek, click here.

Great photos!! Love all the birds that visit. Our quails are always grown when we get back so I loved seeing these.
wow, you always have wonderful visitors, your backyard is like a haven for wildlife.
Your pictures are outstanding!
That is the one thing I really miss since I moved, I always fed the birds and because of bears, we can't feed them here. I miss all my winged buddies, so thank you for sharing yours.
Sunny :)
I love the photo of the cardinal. They are such pretty, colourful birds.
Wow! How lovely to get such intersting visitors. That red bird is amazing! We get sparrows and pigeons here in northern England, and the highlight is a robin, or, if we're getting truly exotic, twice a year maybe a jay!
you've got the loveliest visitors ever.
the northern cardinal is simply fantastic.the color is so vivid, it stands out!
I would love to have these visitors to my backyard, Diane! I'm so jealous..
