Shadow Shots - at the gardens

Though it's autumn in Tucson, the days are still very bright and sunny, even in the mornings. Here in this part of the Sonoran Desert we enjoy about 300 days of sunshine per year.

I liked the striped shadows of the many ramadas at Tucson Botanical Gardens. But the lighting was rather harsh for taking pictures of flowers, so I might visit the gardens again on one of Tucson's rare overcast days.

I did find the lighting to be a little more subtle inside the greenhouse with the butterfly exhibit. But I'll save those pictures for another post as this was the only butterfly shadow I caught.

They are nice photos; you have used the shadows well :). I love the collection of pots of cacti - well, because of the cacti; but I love ALL the photos.

Hope you are having a nice weekend, Ev

The butterfly is special

Oh, what delightful shadow shots! With lots of real sun! We're kind of having to depend on lamps and candles even in the day time as it's been really gray and stormy. I really love these and the butterfly is exquisite!

Enjoy your sun and the weekend, Diane!

All of these posts on the Tucson Botanical Gardens are great. I would like again someday. It was already heading into summer when we were there and it was still March!
Inspite of the heat, we enjoyed it.

The trellis shadow is superb, the angular slats making a complex shadow. The butterfly is a beautiful capture, the shadow as delicate as this winged wonder. The endless (it seems) sun in Tucson is a wonder (as it gets colder in New England). This snowbird will visit some winter!

I like the shadows that the slats make. Isn't sunny AZ wonderful?

Oh that beautiful sun makes for some great opportunities for shadows!

Excellent! Butterfly is very pretty! And the long shadows create great geometric patents

"Moonlight becomes you" is my contribution!

I do love Arizona texture. Well done use of the natural and man-made architecture.

I think the pot with striped shadows is lovely, I like it even better than the butterfly!

The different types of shadows looks fascinating. The pot in the fourth photo looks like a stripped animal. The second photo contains lot of shadows and I like the depth of field. I like the shadows in the third photo. In this, the bold shadows and the plants compliment each other.

Nice that you've had sunshine and warm temps for butterflies..It is too cold here in NY for that now

All interesting shots; I think the ramada shadows are my favorite. Are those ocotillo branches next to the pots? That's a beautiful shade of blue on the butterfly.

They are all such great shots - my favourite is the trellis - or maybe the butterfly.

That's a fab collection of shadow shots. The sweet butterfly one is my fave! I've not seen a butterfly as pretty as that one where I live. Although our ratio of sunshine here sounds very much like yours :)
