Mostly blue skies and mild temperatures here for the past couple of weeks, perfect weather for enjoying nature outdoors with a camera. The photo meme Skywatch Friday encourages participants to gaze skyward. Things seem optimistic from that perspective, don’t they?
Join the fun and see skies from around the world at Skywatch Friday hosted by Klaus, Sandy, Wren, Fishing Guy, and Sylvia.

Love the polaroid style photos and the way the plants soar up. Incredible how the birds don't seem to mind the prickly cactus!
Ocatillo. Kestrels. Saguaros. What memories of my time living in Southern California.
Awesome collection of shots.
An awesome post. Thanks for sharing.
...if not more optimistic, at least more wide open.
How wonderful and beautiful!
Happy SWF Diane.
Regards.
Perfect pictures!
Great collection of shots! Getting warmer there now? Beautiful country!
I'm hoping things will still be blooming next week! Your sky is a brilliant blue, providing a great contrast to those birds and blooms.

beautiful pictures Diane, we have very similar landscapes, except we do not have saguaro here :( I wish we do :) the first one looks almost like in Anza Borrego. love your pictures the way you shoot up to capture the sky with the flowers.

That California poppy picture is really pretty ;-) Love the yellow against the blue sky.
So much fun to look at your post today!
I'll come back to see if I have memorized correctly all the names...
Gorgeous sky pictures, Diane. They are so good--it's hard to pick a fav. I guess I like the one with the tall, thin cactuses... BUT---I love your bird pictures. That sparrow is a cutie...
Hugs,
Betsy
It's hard to go wrong with that famous AZ blue sky as a background, and these images are All Winners. Such colorful blooms and birds.
Superb shots of nature! I love the way you've framed the pictures!

Wow, these are gorgeous! Gotta ask, do you use a polarizer filter? The sky colors are just magnificent!
Hi Brenda, I just have a point and shoot so I can't add any filters or lenses. I used -2/3 exposure compensation while taking these and then corrected the contrast in photoshop.
What a beautiful set of pictures. Terrific. I love your presentation!
Glad to see your Ocotillo, Diane. I tried to grow a species of this plant - sadly, it never germinated.
These are so beautiful especially the top and bottom photos.
I've really been wanting to go to the desert and take pictures. Unfortunatly there aren't any deserts around here.
Beautiful desert scenes! All the better from inside the house for me!
Went to AZ a couple weeks ago and went into allergy overload.
Creasote AKA Puckerbush to Motorcycle riders, is the pretty yellow flower of sneezing doom!
Very pretty though!
Such beautiful images from a landscape that is completely unfamiliar to me. These photos make me want to visit, and soon.
aloha,
what a beautiful sky and corner of the world you are sharing with us this morning, love all the colors and different skyviews and critters!

All great pictures but I like the poppies best. I miss them up here in Coastal BC. - Margy
The photos of plants, flowers and birds look wonderful, with the blue sky as background. The plant in the first photo look like horns. The poppy flower looks beautiful.
Excellent shots and the kestrel atop the cactus is a one in a million shot. Love it.
Beautiful shots! It certainly has been a lovely Spring. I hate to see it go - which I know it will too soon.
a gorgeous series of photos, Diane!
I was in Arizona (Phoenix area) in April last year and it was the first time I'd been in the Spring.
Now I know what creosote looks like!
Great photos. The last one is unreal - like a stock photo!
no desert nearby here so seeing all the beautiful photos you keep posting here makes me feel like being there too
