Birds and Berries

These pictures are from February 29th when Cedar Waxwings, Desert Mistletoe berries and Western Bluebirds were observed on a mesquite tree at Sabino Canyon. There are still some berries left but the waxwings and bluebirds have probably migrated by now.

They come and get drunk off of our berries and then leave....what a bunch of party poopers:) I remember entering a grove where Robins and Waxwings this year were acting all crazy in the air. It was fun to watch:)

I love the little black masks.... so mysterious and rather handsome.

You always have the best photos of Sabino Canyon. They should hire you to be their official photographer

cheers, parsnip

beautiful pictures! The birds look happy to be there, probably as happy as I am to be in the Sonoran desert!

Those berries must look luscious to the cedar waxwings and bluebirds.

I was walking in the desert recently and was hit by a very nice smell. It turned out to be these same berries. I picked a piece of the plant so I could ID it, and sure enough, Desert Mistletoe. Great post!

That is a particularly nice image of the solitary Cedar Waxwing and I like the mistletoe berries draping down over the branch in the image above the CW. All very lovely.
