One Square Mile

Here are a bunch of snapshots taken within the same square mile on eight different days in October:

hover fly on tickseed sunflower

tree lizard on bracket fungus

climbing snapdragon

house finch

barrel cactus fruit

bobcat

ivyleaf morning glory

old saguaro cactus - perhaps suggesting a carousel horse

mockingbird singing

desert cotton - fruit and leaves

One day, around Halloween, part of the creek looked orange...

while upstream the water had its usual tea color.

two hard-to-see katydids on Arizona foldwing

a pair of fence lizards on a boulder

Thurber's desert honeysuckle

walking stick

I hope your week is going happily!  :)

You always have so awesome pictures! I love the tea color of the water, the water permitting such flora and fauna...

Yesterday, just before dark, I saw a Bobcat crouched at one end of a culvert, just like a cat at a mousehole.

Hi Tom, cool observation! This bobcat also looked into the culvert but kept on walking...

My friend, B, has a bobcat that wonders through her yard on a regular basis. Sometimes she manages a picture.

The carousel horse is one I would avoid.

Walking sticks are fascinating. I've never actually seen one though.

Oh, how I wish I could find a walking stick here!!! Or a mantid of any kind! I love that Desert Honeysuckle! Gorgeous!

Congrats of becoming a grandma again to Tyler's to-be sibling! I have just found out my son is having a girl in February as well!

So much biodiversity in 1 square mile! Also, great how you go from macro to telephoto, and everything in between! Great desert photography.

Thanks Rain, the pics were from same place but not all the same day. Sometimes I don't see anything to use for my blog. Happy trails to you. :)
