Soaking up the Sun

Hi there! These pictures are from the morning of May 7th. After crossing the street, the roadrunner stopped, turned its back to the sun, opened its wings and ruffled its feathers allowing the warm rays to reach its skin. Some feathers caught the light just right so I could see shimmering colors on the bird's wings and tail.

I have several (?) pair (?) roadrunners running around here and I love to watch them.

Very cool that you were able to get it sunbathing! I liked being able to actually see it fluff out its feathers!

How fun to be able to stand close and observe.
On our 15 days stay in Phoenix we saw a couple ones crossing streets...

I didn't realize they, also, have iridescent feathers.
