Blooming in the Summer













A cute baby Verdin!



This flowering plant, called Red Bird of Paradise or Mexican Bird of Paradise (Caesalpinia pulcherrima), is commonly used in desert landscaping because it is drought tolerant and attracts hummingbirds and butterflies.  I think the red and orange flowers and ferny foliage look especially nice against blue sky.  Have a wonderful week!

  9. We have a tree with similar flowers called a Poincianna here. I just love seeing the birds and butterflies feeding on the nectar. You take amazing photos.

  14. Great shots. I love this time of year...not for the heat but for the really incredible butterfly and bird moments all around us. Plus the plants and monsoon light up our landscape. Your pics are wonderful:)

  21. A lovely flower, it's nice that something can be so pretty and drought tolerant as well.
    We just returned from the mountains, they were bursting with blooms. Now I'll try to identify them all, not easy as many look alike.
