Comparing this picture of neighbor kitty chasing a bug with the picture above it, doesn't he look like a scorpion?
I had to giggle at the "scorpion kitty" - too cute!!! I also like your yellow flower face - it looks like a the flower face is tired and trying to sleep!
ReplyDeleteAnd did you notice that the milkweed bug nymph and the giant mesquite bug nymph both have hearts on their backs?
What wonderful critters today!!!
Love the neighbors scorpion kitty !
ReplyDeleteYou are so clever.
Of all the wild thing we have in Arizona bugs are the ones I am not crazy about.
I like it best when the birds come and eat them.
Scorpions are the worst and since I live in the foothills we have a few too many.
I can't believe your neighbor can let the kitty out.
She/he wouldn't last long outside were I live. I have coyotes, a bobcat and several hawks that come by my home plus the javelinas. Just a few streets over there were some Mountain Lions.
I have to watch or keep a listen when I let Watson and Hamish out in their small yard.
cheers, parsnip
A VERY fascinating and colorful post but I must confess that those bugs are a main reason why I no longer live in the southwest. ;)
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful post!It looks like!

ReplyDeleteScorpion kitty :) Those bugs are quite beautiful. I have never seen any of them except the scorpion.
ReplyDeleteOuch! A sting from Scorpion Kitty would really hurt. :) How do you find out the names of all those bugs. Great macro shots. Love that sweat bees green head.
ReplyDeleteThose bugs are interesting looking, but the last one sure is a copycat of scorpion :-)
ReplyDeleteI am attracted to the Giant Mesquite Bug nymph. Cool bug - nice colour and pattern!
ReplyDeleteThe designs on those bugs could be the basis of some interesting embroidery.
ReplyDeleteHi Diane, My oldest son used to LOVE bugs... He would bring home all kinds of bugs... Well--I'm definitely not a bug person --and they make me chill, even seeing their pictures...
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures though.
Hugs,
Betsy

ReplyDeleteSuch great picks and easy to study and I'll try to keep in mind the names + likes or dislikes :-))
Those are impressive images of the insects. I think the neighborhood kitty must be an understudy of the neighborhood scorpions! =)
ReplyDeleteWow, these are fantastic! Love all the little details, like the designs on the beetles and the cat snap :-)
