Turpentine Bush

Hello!  Here are snapshots (taken October - November) of a common native plant called turpentine bush and also some of the insects who are attracted to it.  The plant gets its name from the odor of its crushed leaves.

Have a wonderful week. :)

  1. Funny how these bugs are attracted to a smell most humans would find offensive. The ponderosa pine produces turp and yet usually smells quite sweet. Excellent shots.

  7. Beautiful shots with amazing detail. The bugs don't seem to mind the plant's odor. Maybe they find it attractive.

  8. Beautiful post, Diane. I think we may have this same turpentine bush in our CA desert, though not positive. I really like the last photo of the light at sunset.

  12. Miło patrzeć na owady, które u nas już nie fruwają, chodzą i skaczą. Do wiosny musimy poczekać. Pozdrawiam.
It's nice to look at insects that are no longer with us fly, walk and jump. We have to wait until spring. Yours.
