Around the House

Here are some of the animals, plants and skies that I have seen this month at home.

This showy flower is growing from a bulb I planted in a pot on the patio over a year ago.

A pair of cardinals visit the bird feeder often. A few years ago cardinals were raising young in our backyard but I haven't found any nests recently.

Speedy, our pet turtle, patrols the yard for insects.

Have a good week!

  1. Your captures of birds are fantastic. The hummingbird is especially great.

  2. Do cardinals mate for life? I love the colour of the male cardinal although I think his crest makes him look rather weird.

  3. Fabulous desert images. I like the name Speedy. I'm also enjoying some desert warmth near Fountain Hills, AZ.

  10. Love the cardinals. I guess we have them up here in Phoenix but I never see them, I think they're maybe outside the city more. What sort of hummingbird is that? I only see Anna's in my yard. Cute kitties, and cute young roadrunner. It looks lovely where you live...

  11. Hi Maccandace, the little hummer is a broad-billed, that is the most common type in my yard.
