Better late than never

For months I've been enjoying beautiful fall foliage on blogs from other areas. Around here, deciduous trees are few and far between. But lately I've been noticing this one small stand of cottonwood trees on my way to the market. These cottonwoods, tucked behind an office building, could easily go unnoticed most of the year. However, because I'm blogging, these trees have my attention.

Once they get going, they sure change quickly!

Next time I go by this tree, I expect it to be nearly bare.
Then before long, new leaves will begin to grow. We have short winters here in this corner of the desert, lasting from late December through January.

The pieces of gold were hanging up there.

You counted one, you counted two, three, four and ....

And it is spring.

Love how quickly the trees are changing colour.

Those are so pretty. Change of leaves means it's cooling down enough there to go hiking again! =)

Beautiful Fall colors in December in Arizona, Diane... I remember when I lived in Texas (Houston area), we never had any Fall much until November and December either.

Gorgeous tree... Glad you caught it's colors before they are gone.
Hugs,
Betsy

I like how you documented the trees, I can tell it's bare by this time now.

Most trees in our neighborhood have gone from colorful to bald. Only some have handful of leaves.

Belated CHristmas wishes to you and your family!!

Very nice. I can relate to "...because I'm blogging, these trees have my attention". I think I'm more observant!

Gorgeous colors Diane. I like how you revisited the tree each week to record the changes in the leaves.
