Here are some shadow shots from my walk in the desert yesterday morning. In June, it is so bright and sunny at 6:00AM, I have to adjust the exposure bias on my camera to -2/3 or else the highlights blow out. That makes the image on the LCD screen dim, and with sunglasses on I can barely see what I'm shooting. Luckily, the bunny and squirrel were standing still like statues, so I was able to picture them.

The long shadows this time of year say you were out early or late. The squirrel looks ready for a fight.
Wonderful shots with that good low-angle sun. That little squirrel looks like a cartoon character.
I know what you mean about trying to see the LCD screen in the sunshine. I keep juggling sunglasses and regular glasses and end up having no idea if the shot is in focus or not.
I keep trying to get to my morning walk before the sun comes up, but I have yet to get out the door in time.
Stay cool!
oh wow, the suirrel looks surprised yet ready to defend its life :) another set of wonderful captures Diane.
Too cool Diane! The rabbit and squirrel Shadow Shots are really good. I think the rabbit is my fave. Have a good weekend.
A couple of cuties with great shadows you captured there!
Lovely shadow shots. I especially like the flower petal shadows on the yellow curb.
I do love those little guys! How cute and how great that you were able to photograph them. Such great little shadows! And the flower shadows are lovely! Have a great evening, Diane!

I sooo enjoyed that squirrel!!! He is absolutely adorable!
Those are very cute. I love seeing photos of squirrels we don't get them here in New Zealand.
These are wonderful shots, Diane! I love the pose of the squirrel.
Loved that lonnnnng shadow the squirrel made...it looked like a giant compared to his real size!
Squirrels and Bunnies, how great!
Such adorable creatures!! neat leaves shadows too! You always have the coolest walks of all time!!! The pic of Tyler and his Mom is so great in your sidebar!!!
Bunnies and squirrels are cute, but not compared to that little outlaw on your side bar... He looks very content...
The squirrel is cute, the shadow makes it look even greater.
What a neat trick to get them to pose like that for you Diane. :)
Awww...I love the bunny and the squirrel! You managed to capture so beautifully!
Those are some special shadows of the critters. The white belly squirrel is adorable.
I love the bunny's ears!!!! Happy Sunday Diane!!
those beasties are just too cute...
That squirrel looks like a little alien. Great shadows.
I just love that squirrel!!
Diane, do you have a digital SLR with lenses? If so, maybe try a polarizing filter? I have gotten so I won't shoot without it here in AZ glary days.
Hi Brenda, I just have a point and shoot and it won't take a filter. When monsoon season starts and we get some cloud cover, it will get easier for pictures.

Nice shots Diane! Love the shadows captured like these. The second picture without squirrel, the colours are really good. I like it :-D Have a another great week!
What fun shots. The little ground squirrel is so cute, she gave you a great pose. The bunny is adorable.
I have to ask why you didn't turn off the LCD and use the viewfinder in the bright sunlight? My LCD is impossible to see in bright light.
oh, the bunny and squirrel shadow shots are adorable.
Hi Diane, I always love your desert pictures---any time of year. These shadow ones are fabulous... Thanks!!!!
Hugs,
Betsy
My son and I love these little critters!
Polarized sunglasses placed in front of your camera lens will do the trick...
What if the squirrel had been aware of the size of its shadow? lol
Thanks, I appreciate the suggestions for photographing in bright light. :)
For my money, the squirrel is the star!
Bravo!! Great shots!
