El Tour de Tucson

Today was the big 109 mile bike race around the perimeter of Tucson.  Over 8,000 people registered for El Tour.

Most of the cyclists walked their bikes across the Santa Cruz Wash and everyone loved the mariachis.

After watching the participants cross the dry river bed, we watched them cycle through a neighborhood by Canyon Ranch.

It was a nice sunny day for watching a bike race, and catching shadows with the camera.

For more fun with shadows, visit Hey Harriet, hosted by Tracy for Shadow Shot Sunday.

Wow, 8000 bikers in one place! That's something to see. You caught some great shadows, too.

The trees are leaving wonderful shadows alongside the course. The riders are leaving shadows that are long, the spokes captured in stop-motion. Nice!

Love all the bright colors the bike riders wear. Great shots. I'll have to ask my brother who lives in Tucson if he saw any of the fun.

The Tour comes right by my street... Friends and I went out around 11 so we got to drive a bit with them on Sunrise by Kolb.
The Builders were working day and night to finish the roadwork/paving on Sunrise so the cyclists had something to ride on beside dirt.
Thank Goodness the wind didn't show up today and the temperature was almost too warm but very beautiful day.

cheers, parsnip

Very good shots. Looks like a fun event. Need to get down that way this winter. I wander over that way from where I stay in New Mexico. I know, I'm a partial snow bird, forgive me, but it gets cold in Wisconsin.

Peace.

We've "accidentally" gone to Tucson on the day of that race in the past. Quite a surprise (and traffic nightmare) when you're not aware of it. You captured lots of great images and shadows. Looks like it was a perfect day for the bikers.
