Shadows of Squirrels

Three types of ground squirrels live in the Sonoran Desert:

Round-tailed Ground Squirrel

Harris' Antelope Ground Squirrel

Rock Squirrel

These were all found in the Coronado National Forest.  I love squirrels, but I never see any in my yard, not even at the bird feeders.  Fortunately, I get to enjoy pictures of squirrels at friends' blogs regularly. :)

  10. Beautiful pictures of these adorable little creatures! We have red squirrels, gray squirrels and chipmunks - but they don't come very close because we also have cats.

I'd love to ship you some squirrels from my yard. However, I don't know if they'd like the desert! Nice action shot!

  24. Great pictures! I miss squirrels, too, but I know they sometimes can be pests. I saw a ground squirrel on a hike recently but wasn't fast enough to capture it.

  25. The squirrel is cute. The shadow in the first photo looks like the squirrel's 'friend'. We have 'wild' squirrels that roams everywhere. I just saw one in my garden this morning. When I open the house door, the squirrel quickly dashes off. They can run really fast!
