Mellow Yellow in the Garden

Greetings from Tucson, Arizona! This is my first Mellow Yellow Monday post. Here is a bit of what's happening in my Sonoran Desert garden. In each of these pictures you will find a little or a lot of the color yellow.

Bee on Turpentine Bush

Brittle Bush blossoms reaching out

A fallen Vitex leaf resting on gravel

"Citrus Blend" Lantana still blooming

Goldfinch in the sun

Oleander leaf laced with shadows

Yellow Bells keep on giving :)

To see other posts featuring the color yellow, check out Mellow Yellow Monday. Thanks to the Drowsey Monkey for hosting this beautiful meme.

Lots of great MYM photos! I especially like the one of the goldfinch - how fortunate you could capture him in the spotlight!

Beautiful yellows, I love the bee on the Turpentine Bush. All of our bees and most of the flowers are gone until Spring. It's great to see them here.

Lovely yellows. I especially like the last photo. We have a wild flower here very similar to the one in the picture. It is called Cape Sorrel. I wonder if they are related.

The Lantana photo is beautiful - my fav colours in there. And I love the backgound. Fantastic.

Others are nice too. Nice capture of the oleander leaf, birdie in the shade (looks like it has found a nice little space for itself to be alone and quiet)... nice bee! ooh, love the brittle bush too...

Have a good week, Ev

I like your blog I connected through another blogger. I like the leaf on the gravel the best. That one looks like it could be framed and hung on the wall.

The Vitex leaf with dark colored gravel as background looks nice. The bird seems to be in a spotlight to take photographs. The shadows on the Oleander leaf forms nice patterns.

Turpentine Bush, why is it called that name?

In Malaysia and Singapore, the Lanatana doesn't have a good name. it is called chicken shit flower because it stinks. Do they stink in America?

Hi Ann, When crushed, the leaves of the Turpentine Bush (Ericameria laricifolia) smell like turpentine.

I like the smell of Lantana. In some areas people don't like that plant because it can be invasive. Here in the desert, Lantana is popular in landscaping and doesn't seem to spread.

That's fall color of a different sort. It looks more like sping. Beauty grows in your garden, Diane.
