Winter Reflections

This post is for Weekend Reflections hosted by James at Newtown Area Photo, a fun photo meme where you can view all kinds of reflection images or share your own.

These puddle reflections are from last weekend. Puddles and snow are rarely seen here. The short winter in this little corner of the Sonoran Desert is coming to an end. Spring begins in February.

Spring: February through March
Fore-summer: April through June
Summer Monsoon: July through Mid-September
After-summer: Late September through October
Fall: November through Mid-December
Winter: Late December through January

Above are the six seasons for this area according to David Wentworth Lazaroff's Sabino Canyon: The Life of a Southwestern Oasis.

Love these photos, especially the second one! I had the same idea - we're staying in Mesa for the winter and got all that rain, too! I thought it would be funny to get a photo of a saguaro reflected in a puddle since it is so RARE to have puddles in AZ! LOL!

Glad you got to show us such beauties of winter!

Great definition of the seasons here in AZ. I am going to have to save this! The second photo shows all terrains of AZ, doesn't it! Thank you for sharing your 'finds'.

These are beautiful photos of reflections. It just takes a little water to show beautiful things around it!

I was tempted to choose the first one of these superb photos as my favorite, but I declare a tie!

Love that second shot Diane. besides the snow on the mountains, it does not look like winter there. I am sure it must be cold at night on those open plains.

Ebie said...

Yeah, my lappy is fixed and I could visit your scenic views. Both shots are great but I love the second one.

Hi Diane,
I liked your comment on www.jungleoflife.com, which led me to your blog. Beautiful photos of the snow-covered Catalinas brought back floods of lovely memories from my teenage years in Tucson. Lucky you to appreciate such beauty in your backyard! And thanks for sharing it!

Can imagine that puddles are even less common where you live than in here in CA! The reflection of the cacti is special. An anomaly!
