Wow. I am so glad I came over here just now. I loved the Saguaro when I was in Az but never saw such flowering close up, and the fruit splitting open. So beautiful this earth, thank you.
Incredible! I love all the fruit on the Saguaro. Your shots are perfection. I want to hike so bad but it's too hot. I get outside and I walk back inside. I have no will to endure this nastiness. I sneak out at night to do my gardening and watch the birds from my window but that's about all all. The mornings are the best time, but I'm a night owl at heart so I need that AM sleep:)
I don't believe I have ever seen the open red flowers of the saguaro before...how gorgeously they grow atop each arm! WOW!!! Thanks for showing!!! xoxo- Julie
Hi Julie, the saguaro flowers are white, but then as you pointed out, when the fruits split open they look like red flowers. Birds love both the flowers and fruit, so there is a lot of activity around these cacti in May and June!
Olbrzymie kaktusy z kwiatami u góry wyglądają cudownie,a oba ptaki mają wspaniałą ucztę. Pozdrawiam. Giant cacti with flowers at the top look wonderful, and both birds have a great feast. Yours.

These are gorgeous photo, Diane! I see the other bird in the last photo :-)
The fruit on our saguaro always dries up and drops off. At least I think it all does...I better look again. Beautiful pops of color.
glorious images, diane, as usual.
i really like the beautiful colour combination, too!
big hugs!

The little finch blends in, doesn't he? Great photos!
Wonderful photos.
Love the last photo. So funny that of all the saguaro with fruit he picked this one to have lunch at. Maybe strength in numbers ?

I see the other bird. It's very pretty but I have no idea what it is. Your photos are gorgeous, as always.
Beautiful photos, Diane. I'd like the saguaro fruit also--but not to eat... They are such beautiful blooms.
Hugs,
Betsy
Gorgeous shots as always, but I will say that the heat must be horrendous this week.
I also now have Stevie Nicks' "Edge of Seventeen" stuck in my head.
"Just like a white-winged dove
Sings a song
Sounds like she's singing
Woo, woo, woo"
Gorgeous. Do you ever have a BAD day in your endlessly beautiful desert?
wow, another set of gorgeous pictures, very special, wish i can see saguaro blooms and fruits one day and if with a dove, would be a bonus :)
Looks like a bit of acrobats going on above those flowery fruit.
I've never seen the red-flowered Saguaro - so lovely. The birds are having a banquet!

That last shot is very cool... I would have missed the second bird. It blends right in!
