Hi there! These pictures are from the morning of May 7th. After crossing the street, the roadrunner stopped, turned its back to the sun, opened its wings and ruffled its feathers allowing the warm rays to reach its skin. Some feathers caught the light just right so I could see shimmering colors on the bird's wings and tail.

It's amazing how anything can survive this heat! Nice close ups on a desert beauty!
Wonderful close ups.
I have several (?) pair (?) roadrunners running around here and I love to watch them.

Was he talking to you? :-) The feathers are gorgeous!
Wow! A REAL roadrunner!!!!!! how beautiful!!!!!
Very cool that you were able to get it sunbathing! I liked being able to actually see it fluff out its feathers!
How fun to be able to stand close and observe.
On our 15 days stay in Phoenix we saw a couple ones crossing streets...
Yes, how good if the runner talk to you.
Then we shall have an interesting story by then.
Cute shots of the Roadrunner! They are one of my many favorite birds.
I didn't realize they, also, have iridescent feathers.
